The Ruffed Grouse is the state bird of Pennsylvania and is found in northwestern areas and eastern mountains of the United States. Males attract females by raising their tail feathers, puffing up their neck feathers and making a low sound by drumming the air with their wings. Insects, berries and a variety of seeds and nuts make up their diet.
